Following a bumper weekend of Football last weekend when we had no shock results, with expected wins for Dublin, Kerry, Tyrone and Donegal, we have two All-Ireland football quarter finals and a hurling semi-final to look forward to.
Donegal play Connacht Champions Mayo in what should be an intriguing contest. Donegal have come through the qualifiers after a disappointing defeat to Monaghan in the Ulster final. They will be eager to make ammends but Mayo, who are desperate to win the All-Ireland will be difficult to beat. It’s a very open contest.
Tyrone, who have also come through the qualifiers play Monaghan, the Ulster Champions, who would be expected to win this all Ulster clash.
On the hurling front All-Ireland Champions Kilkenny play a young Waterford team, 2015 league Champions, in the first All-Ireland semi-finals. Kilkenny will be expected to win this one having the more experienced hurlers but Waterford, with Maurice Shanahan playing some fantastic hurling this year will want to reach and win the All-Ireland final to add to their League final win. We’re all looking forward to this clash on Sunday in Croke Park.
